
ABEL PROGRAM
ABEL Enterprises has served the needs of our community by constructing custom woodworking and commercial furniture since 1984. While recognized as a progressive and high quality production facility, ABEL is also a non-profit agency which fosters social entrepreneurship.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Skill Development and Employment Training
Community members 16 to 65 years of age living with a mental illness and/or addiction are invited to join the program and learn new skills. Our goal is to provide you with the opportunity to gain transferrable skills within a supportive environment, working with skilled trades-people. The skills you gain can assist you with your goal of obtaining employment.
While in the workshop you can make projects for yourself; when contracts are available you may receive a training allowance while assisting staff to construct commercial wood products. ABEL also has contracts in the community performing general maintenance, commercial painting and cleaning. As you progress through the ABEL program you may have the opportunity to join this work crew.
